Cinematic Flaneur

20/07/2010
Second semester just started and we're already full on! We were given our new project and in this project we had to create an auxiliary equipment for 2 cameras. After the brief was handed in, we got into group and had a little chat of what our plan is and what role we wanted to be. I've chosen the fabricator assistant because I like making things and taking pieces apart. I chose this role and not the fabricator because I know that I'm still not quite knowledgeable in building a device. As a fabricator assistant I can help build a device and also learn from the fabricator. Tuesday we did individual research and Wednesday will be just sharing ideas and inspiration for the project.

Wednesday we were introduced in Solid Works, It was really confusing for me to understand. Some of the people in my class already know how to use it which is an advantage for them. Before the Solid Work tutorial start, we had a group meeting and shared ideas. Our group are favoring on the idea of putting the device on the dog and one of the camera is seeing the city in the dog's perspective. However, we are still open in some ideas that will come up.

Thursday was really interesting Gabriel showed us some basics in after effect. It really draws my attention on what you can do in the after effect. The after affect looks complicated but I am willing to learn how to use it.

Friday we had 3D lab and was introduced in every machine that we will be using or might be using for the project. I'm really looking forward in experiencing of using those machines and making device.

26-27/07/2010
Thursday and Friday we started designing our camera rig on solid works. measurements are done so on tuesday we're going start doing the fabrication.

(3-6/08/2010)
cutting metals wasn't that hard. I had fun doing the fabrication but welding really small metal pieces is hard. After doing the fabrication we tried the camera rig on the dog and we had some complication on keeping the rig on the dog. Because it's too heavy, the camera fall on the side and makes it really hard for the dog to walk. We add more metals on each side of the rig to support it and add wheels on it like training wheels.

The training wheels was really good although when we tried it in the city, the rig still fall on the side and the dog walks sideways.
